DIY Essential Oil Perfume

We’ve touched a little on natural/green beauty products, but some of my favorite synthetic chemical-free beauty products are the ones that I can make using what I already have at home.

When I started exploring essential oils, I quickly felt the need to make perfume sprays with oils like sandalwood and rose geranium. While this perfume recipe uses warming sandalwood and vanilla (my favorite combo), feel free to use any essential oils that you love. Try blending a 2 or 3 oils to create new combinations that smell amazing to you. There are a bunch of places to buy essential oils, but I really like and trust Mountain Rose Herbs (this post isn’t sponsored, I just think they’re great!).

This spray uses regular vodka that we had on our bar cart at home (I used Tito’s), but I’ve also used witch hazel with good results. I’m sure you can use rubbing alcohol here as well, although I’ve never tried it. For me the vodka works as a great carrier for the scent and keeps it around longer than the witch hazel does.

Let me know if you give this a try and what essential oils you used!

DIY Essential Oil Perfume

  • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) vodka or witch hazel
  • 15-20 drops sandalwood essential oil*
  • 5 drops vanilla essential oil*

Method

Mix everything together in your glass spray bottle by combining and giving everything a little shake with the cap on.

*Play around with your favorite essential oil combos.
